If you are travelling a simple 'Hi' is enough for breaking the ice.

Hostels rock since they provide a shared space.
Check-in early and you'll be able to be the person which welcomes everyone and gets conversations/events going!
If you get there late groups are already formed and it isn't as easy to fit in, but it can still be done! ;)

Common travel subjects:

• kind of trip;
• previous locations;
• next destinations;
• recommend destinations;
  
• recommendations regarding the person's next destination: hostel, sights, where to eat;
  
• previous work;
• home countries;

Para manter uma conversa a andar é importante ter, e demonstrar, interesse genuíno no que a outra pessoa está a dizer. Conversar com gosto e ouvir a outra pessoa.
